The project at Derry Farm House revolved around transforming a rooftop terrace into a safe, visually appealing, and functional space. SMART Balustrades played a pivotal role in this endeavour by designing and installing a structural glass balustrade system that would attach to the inside of a parapet wall, securing the terrace while preserving the scenic views.

The primary challenge was to provide a balustrade solution that met the safety needs of the homeowner without obstructing the breathtaking views from the terrace. The absence of a balustrade made the space inaccessible and potentially hazardous, highlighting the importance of an elegant yet robust solution.

SMART Balustrades presented a cutting-edge design featuring 21.5mm thick toughened laminated glass panels, affixed to the parapet wall using stainless steel glass adapters. These adapters were designed to bolt through the glass and securely anchor into the wall. Additionally, a 42mm diameter satin brushed stainless steel capping rail was added to enhance both security and aesthetics.

Working closely with the homeowner, SMART Balustrades meticulously executed the installation, ensuring the glass balustrade system was seamlessly integrated with the terrace’s design. The installation focused on achieving the desired safety standards while preserving the panoramic views.
