SMART Balustrades is pleased to confirm the award of the balustrade and handrail package for the East Coast College redevelopment in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, with Kier Construction.

Appointed by the Department for Education, Kier is delivering a major campus redevelopment designed to provide modern, high-specification teaching and training facilities. The scheme represents a significant investment in the education sector, requiring coordinated delivery across multiple specialist packages.

SMART Balustrades has been appointed to design, manufacture and install a comprehensive range of stainless steel and glass systems across the development. The scope includes SMART Vero stainless steel staircase balustrades, SMART Vivo stainless steel wall fixed handrails and external guarding, all developed to meet the required loadings and compliance standards in line with BS 6180 for educational environments.

Our package has been developed with a strong focus on buildability, programme alignment and commercial efficiency, ensuring smooth integration with Kier’s wider construction programme. Systems will incorporate grade 304 stainless steel internally and grade 316 externally where required, alongside laminated glass infill panels to achieve both durability and long-term performance.

Working closely with Kier’s commercial and delivery teams, we will provide full technical support from design through to installation, ensuring coordination with surrounding trades and adherence to programme milestones.

This award reflects our continued success in the education sector and reinforces our ability to deliver compliant, cost-effective balustrade solutions on complex, multi-phase developments.
